By the 1830's, the british had become a major drug-trafficking criminal organization in the world. The East India Company shipped opium into Canton. It then got traded with Chinese manufactured goods for tea. It influenced them in many ways. It became a criminal activity after 1836, but the British traders bribed Canton officials so they would be able to keep the opium. They became so addicted that by 1837 chests of opium were produced and by 1837 it was 35,000. In 1836 the imperial government made opium illegal and decided to do something about this. Karl Marx and the communism

What is communism? Commmunism is a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state. Karl Marx's idea of Communism is about how one whole state controls everything. During the Industrail Revolution he wanted everything to be fair. Karl Marx saw the Capitalist as the " Bad guys ". He thought it was very harsh at the fact that people weren't treated equally. Some people were getting higer wages than others. Karl Marx had an idea, he thought that it would be easier if everyone got paid the same. It didn't matter if you worked a better job or worked more hours. Karl Narx idea really didn't go through the Soviet Union's government got involed and it was strict. Everyone was forced to work. Karl Marx wanted Communism to take over. He felt like workers had there own opinons they shouldn't have to obey there owners. He also didn't like the fact that workers were getting poor and on the other hand the owners were getting rich. The workers were doing all the work. During his life Karl Marx had one goal. He wanted the world to be under communism because he felt like everyone should have equal rights.

Nationalism and the Creation of Italy
.png)
Nationalism was the most powerful ideal of 1800's. The balance of power set up at congresss of vienna in 1815 was going bad. It affected many people. Austrua ruled the Italian provinces of venetia and Lombardy in the north. In 1815 and 1848 many Italians weren't able to live under foreign rulers. The idealistic and the pratical leader contributed to the unification of Italy.

John Locke and "The Enlightenment"

John Locke inspired many people and one of them was Thomas Jefferson. It was because of John Locke Thomas Jefferson wrote the Costitution. Thomas Jefferson stated that all people in the United States should be able to share. The rights that Thomas Jefferson wrote about in the Constitution was basically explaining that everyone is created equal. Everyone has the right to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It was belived that in every human being there was powerful voice within them and will be heard. When there's people elected in the congress it us we the people that makes that come true. We vote to see who will make our country better wheather it's the president or mayor.
